Who We Are?
Smart Gafsa Organization is an independent, national, and non-profit Tunisian organization whose primary mission is to integrate youth and vulnerable groups into public life by striving to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. It consists of a group of active young men and women in various cities of Gafsa.
Smart Gafsa Organization is based on three core principles:
- No Exclusion: The organization does not exclude any person based on racial, religious, political, ideological, or gender backgrounds.
- No Guardianship: The organization is rich in youthful energy and talent, making it trustworthy. Therefore, the organization works to integrate youth into the decision-making system and rejects any form of guardianship.
- No Normalization: The organization is a national Tunisian entity that aims to support the state in building a progressive and smart Tunisia.
Our History
The organization was founded on June 2, 2016, after the Tunisian revolution. It primarily consists of a group of active young men and women from various governorates of Gafsa, all working collaboratively towards social and civic empowerment in Tunisia.
Our Principles and Goals
Smart Gafsa Organization is built on several fundamental principles:
- Assisting the national effort to build a smart Tunisia.
- Developing a sense of citizenship.
- Environmental empowerment.
- Promoting entrepreneurship and the digital economy.
- Sustainable development.
These goals are achieved through the resources available to the organization and through its strategic partners.
Vision
Smart Gafsa Organization believes that the economic and social empowerment of vulnerable groups is the cornerstone for building a just and sustainable Tunisia. We also believe that Gafsa is a civic and sustainable city, open to its external environment and respectful of human rights, which can only be achieved through transparency and participatory local governance, involving civil society as a strategic ally.

Ethics
The organization relies on a set of internal rules and a procedural manual that ensures a safe and inclusive space for its members, such as guaranteeing access for people with disabilities and involving women in all activities as a pillar of positive community development. We are also committed to full responsibility and transparency towards our beneficiaries, partners, and donors, by providing access to information related to fund allocation and management.
